Quick Guide: Using RØDE Microphones (Wireless PRO) with OBS
1. Recording in OBS via the Receiver
Connect the Hardware
- Connect the receiver to the laptop using a USB-C cable.
- Turn on the transmitters (microphones) and pair them with the receiver.
- Check that the receiver is showing an audio signal.
Set Up OBS
- Open OBS.
- Under Sources, click + → Audio Input Capture.
- Create a new audio input device.
- Select the RØDE Receiver as the audio device.
- Perform a short speaking test to verify that audio levels are visible in OBS.
- Start recording by clicking Start Recording.
2. Recording Simultaneously on the Receiver and in OBS
For additional backup, it is recommended to record simultaneously on the RØDE system.
Procedure
- Turn on the receiver and transmitters.
- Connect the receiver to the laptop via USB-C.
- Prepare OBS for recording.
- Press the Record button on the receiver.
- Internal recording will start.
- The recording indicator will appear on the display.
- Then click Start Recording in OBS.
Recommendation: Start the receiver recording and the OBS recording as close together as possible to make synchronization easier during post-production.
3. Exporting Audio Files from the RØDE System
Connect the Devices
- After recording, place all three devices into the charging case and connect the charging case to the laptop via USB-C.
- If necessary, keep the devices powered on.
- Open RØDE Central. (Administrator rights are required for installation.)
Export Files
- In RØDE Central, select the desired transmitter or receiver.
- Navigate to the Recordings section.
- Select the files you want to export.
- Click Export.
- Choose a destination folder on the laptop.
The exported files can then be imported into OBS, Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, or other video and audio editing software.
